JOHN TAYLOR AND ROBERT SCHWARTZMAN AS " JR."

martes, 16 de octubre de 2012 0 comentarios

About jr : Once upon a time, two strangers met while on tour. They knew nothing of each other beyond the surface, the little things that don't really change a thing. But they quickly hit it off, sharing many interests in music, loss, longing, and after work activities. It didn't take long for these two fellows to form a fellowship of the sing song. They jived higher than any jive has jived. But there was one stake in the middle of their friendship, the stake of previous commitments. Our two heroes used their calendars to schedule time to work together on exciting things, putting their hearts and minds together for creation of new music. It was fresh and exciting to both of them, this instant connection and brotherhood through melody. Songs were written, stories were shared, hearts were opened to the world to hear. From this collaboration came their first EP, One. And from One, came two friends with a dream to create more and more things together. John and Robert are those friends...those friends are jr.

The EP is titled "One" and can be purchased here as a bundle that includes a vinyl version, wristband, poster, personalized email greeting and more.

So how did Robert and John come to collaborate on this?
Robert tells, "We love a lot of the same music and we talked about writing together. We started writing "Watching You," but it was more for John. I recorded the song as we wrote and it started to take on its own identity. The songs have a lot of the two of us in them. Things we love, lots of harmonies, drum machines mixed with acoustic instruments."

What influences can be heard in their music?
"We love The Beach Boys, ELO, The Traveling Wilburys, Ricky Nelson, The Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison." says Robert. "It's 50's meets Top Gun."

Make sure to check out the EP.

INTERVIEW WITH OCEAN GROVE IN BRASIL

Which song do you have the most fun playing?
John Taylor- I think I like playing “say goodbye” the most.

Can you tell us a little bit about the songs on another place to stay?
The songs are all kind of drawn from life experiences. Stories that show what our lives have been like. Away is a story of two people taking a trip on a whim to escape the daily routine of life.

What's your most embarrassing moment?
John Taylor- I once slipped and fell in the lobby of the hotel while carrying three coffees. It sucked. Bad.

Is there a difference between the American fans and the Brazilian fans?
The brazilian fans seem to have a little more “crazy” (in a good way!!) in them! They are loud and awesome

What was the first song you wrote together?
Our House
What's your favorite memory from Brazil? And how were your experiences around here?
The first time we went sightseeing and exploring around Rio was pretty epic. We had a great day on ipanema beach too.
Ryan, What's it like to be a dad?
Being a dad is awesome in every way, shape and form. I really enjoy making her smile. It makes me feel like the best person alive.
Ryan, What's the difference like when you play for the Jonas Brothers, Ocean Grove and The Rule?
Playing with different bands is something I've always been used to. I grew up playing in clubs and bars starting in early high school. I always had to play with a bunch of different groups to make money. The Jonas gig is incredible because we've been able to make great music and travel the world. The Rule is fun because it gives me a chance to sing lead and play guitar. Ocean Grove is great because I get to write, perform and hang out with my best friends all the time.

Garbo, What was Paris's reaction when you proposed?

I proposed to Paris in a secluded spot in New York City's Central Park. She was completely caught off guard and thought we were just going to have a picnic on a Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful day and went even better than I had planned.

Garbo, Do you believe in aliens? If so, do you think they're good?

Aliens have to exist somewhere. Movie aliens usually want to destroy us (When Mars Attacks, Alien.) but there are also friendly aliens (Alf, ET.) Not sure which version is closer to the real thing. When i meet Lady Gaga I'll let you know.

What made you want to start the band?
We just wanted a chance to express ourselves a little more, and to have a chance to play some of the music we had been writing. It’s been awesome thus far.

John, How old were you when you learned how to play the guitar? What made you want to be a musician?
I was 13, I had always sang, but I hurt my leg skiing and decided to start playing -guitar b/c I could not walk! I love rock and roll, always have, I never really saw myself doing anything but making rock and roll. I am a lucky guy.

John, Where did you learn how to skateboard? Are you actually good at it?
I learned years ago and recently picked it back up. My skill level is “decent”

Jack, Who do you think is the best drummer of all time? After you, of course haha
JOHN BONHAM
Is there a way for the South American fans to meet you guys? Some kind of meet and greet?
We will be hanging out around the venue and the hotel, if you see us, come say hi!

Can you send a message to your Brazilian fans?
We love brazil ¡abrigado!

UNDERCOVER (ACOUSTIC) + LYRICS

There are things you know about me, there are things you don't.
Locked up in a safe that's buried, underneath the vault.

Everything you say, taken with a grain of salt.
When you let me come inside, is that really what you want?

We can lie to each other i'm undercover too.

I know you have so many questions, but please don't bother me.
I'm too busily inventing, the person that you see.
I can see it in your eyes.
The best part of my disguise.
And I'm starting to believe, that you're selling it to me.

We can lie to each other i'm undercover too.

We can lie to each other i'm undercover too.

What is true, when you're lying to yourself?

We can lie to each other i'm undercover too.
Try to uncover, all we've discovered, We can lie to each other i'm undercover too

THINK WE SHOULD (ACOUSTIC) + LYRICS

I live on the edge of California.
And when we meet, well I should warn ya.
When it falls in the sea, I'm gonna dive right in.
Well I would, if you could, think we should.

Let's take a trip to Minnesota.
Where the Winter's so much colder.
The roads are frozen, so we can glide right in.
Well I would, if you could, I think we should.

When the snowfall keeps us in all night, We'll be glad that we lived it right.

Your smile soothes me like a potion.
I really second that emotion.
Let's go upstairs before we run out of time...
Well I would, if you could, think we should.

And in the morning when the sun shines bright, we'll be glad that we lived it right.

Tonight. Just might.
Tonight. Just might.
Tonight, just might be....
Our last night

When the sun no longer shines her light, we'll be glad that we lived it right
I've been waiting for you all my life....

Well I would, if you could, think we should

OCEAN GROVE DEBUT ALBUM

About this project...
Music is a magical thing. It can change you; how you feel, how you think. As fans of many bands we know what it’s like to feel like you helped a band break by being there from the beginning.

We think this project is amazing in that it tangibly allows the fans to be part of the album making process. Ocean Grove is going to use the pledges from the kickstarter to record, mix and distribute a new album independently, giving us the freedom to make the music that means the most to us, tell the honest stories, and authentically pour our hearts into the songs. To have the opportunity to do that with people who care supporting us is incredible.

With your help Ocean Grove plans to make 2012 a big year for the band and the amazing fans. Thanks so very much,

PLEASE PLEDGE AND HELP OCEAN GROVE
